Rue is a family run local business. Run by partners Jen Ryan and Wesley Robe.
Jen Ryan, founder and director, has been working with teenagers for over 12 years. She is passionate about creating a space and programs dedicated to hearing and listening to the voices of our teenagers, tween-agers and kids. Equipping them with techniques for dealing with our rapidly changing world. Jen has worked as a High School Guidance Counsellor and Visual Arts Teacher for over ten years. She has a Master’s in Education, majoring in School Guidance and Counselling, a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Photography, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Business.
Wesley Robe continues to grow his knowledge and passion for mental health, currently completing his Honours in Psychology, after being in the Australian defence force for over 10 years. Wesley is a proud First Nations - Butchulla man, growing up on the beautiful Fraser Coast. He has recently completed his yoga and mindfulness qualification and will be running yoga for adults and kids. He is passionate about mental health and well-being and making this accessible to everyone.
Rue was born out of a desire to support our children and teens who are growing up in a rapidly changing world, often worried about their sense of self, too often investing disproportionately in the lives and dreams of others, sacrificing their own passions in the process. As we "grow up" we eventually lose that light of imagination and creativity. Adults too often prioritise other people, work and life before their own creativity. In the Tween, Kids and Teen Empowerment sessions, she uses creative counselling techniques in order to support mental health and well-being, focusing on what they love doing, and getting lost in creativity in order to find passion and a sense of self truly.
